When there was an emergency vacancy on the Escambia County School Board, the Florida Governor TRUSTED CARISSA for the job and CHOSE CARISSA to serve on the School Board.

• University of Memphis Graduate with Honors in Counseling and Personnel Services
“My priorities are teaching students how to think, not what to think. Focusing on reading, writing, mathematics, science, civics, history, arts and career/technical subjects. Our schools will be free from bullying. Student discipline will be enforced. Respect for teachers, educational support personnel and parents will be our culture”
• A teacher in kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades.

• Taught in many schools- in the inner city of Memphis, in Northern Virginia, In DoD schools overseas and in many schools in Escambia County, Florida.

• Served as an Escambia County School Board Member
for one year during the emergency absence of the elected
school board member.

“I have dedicated my life’s work to educating children and earned my education degree and was a classroom teacher before I was married. Our public schools are important to me and can and should provide a world class education to all our children. I am personally invested in our public schools. My oldest son graduated from West Florida Technical High School and my youngest son is currently in an Escambia County public high school.”
